The first workshop and public trial is situated in New Delhi with The Sound Reasons festival and Sarai Reader 09 exhibition. Vocative Cartography was presented in two urban locations, Hauz Khas Village and Gurgaon. Together with local co-creators several layers of location sensitive sound were authored and made available through and Android software for mobile phones. The audio was a mixture of interviews, spoken text, field recordings and ambient sound. A workshop was held also with The Delhi Listening group (Angkor), and Srishthi School of Art Design and Technology in Bangalore.

The first edition explored sonic experience while using a map based application, and how different participants reacted to the proposal of co-creation, and the end user participants into exploring their local environment. The trial also revealed important design aspects about authoring GPS location triggered sound for contemporary smart phones.

The main objective of the project is to create a locative, environmental catastrophe game using geocaching and treasure hunt scenarios. This involves working with young co-creators from a rural location in Eastern Finland in the vicinity of a uranium mine with severe environmental impact. The game, Cartoplay: Yellow Dust is made also playable in urban Helsinki.
